Following their 3-0 victory over Tamale City at Akoon Park on Sunday, June 11, Medeama Sporting Club won their first Ghana Premier League championship.
With a three-point lead at the top of the table going into the final game of the season, the Mauve and Yellows only required a draw to win the league.
However, a hat trick by Jonathan Sowah allowed Evans Adotey’s team to win all three points and win Ghana’s top division for the first time ever.
As of now, Medeama is the league champion in the Ghana Premier League.
Six minutes into the game, Sowah scored to get the crowd going before adding a second goal in the final 67 minutes.
Sowah scored twice with 14 minutes remaining in the game to end it and drop Tamale City to the bottom division.
The Tamale-based team quickly makes its way back to Division One League play after barely receiving a promotion at the conclusion of the previous campaign.
