Nursing mothers have been advised to desist from feeding their infants from six months to nine months with food bought from the streets.
According to dietician specialist Mr David Tuffour, food bought from outside does not help infants in any way.
He attributed this to the fact that those foods are prepared with lots of spices, pepper and salt which their bodies don’t need.
Mr Tuffour speaking to Naomi Afriyie Nyanor on the Jolly Breakfast Show noted that nursing mothers, despite their busy schedules must endeavour to pay particular attention to the food they give to their babies.
This is because when the feeding is well taken care of at the early stages, the child grows up stronger and healthier.
Mr David Tuffour further recommended that nursing mothers must make an effort to incorporate complementary foods for their infants from six months upwards.
He made it known that they can do this by using the local Ghanaian staples because it is affordable.
Also, the foods must not be one way, it must be a combination of foods with different nutritional values to enrich their diet.
