The Western Regional Minister, Dr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah says the dualisation of the Agona Nkwanta to Takoradi road contract has been secured.
The Minister made this known at the Media launch of the 6th Ghana Hotels Association Awards and Hotel Business Forum in Takoradi on the theme, “Sustaining the Hotel Industry in Ghana Post Covid 19,” on Wednesday, August 23.
He said, “Just yesterday, I was not in Takoradi, I went to secure the arrangement for the construction of the double lane from Agona to Takoradi.”
“The other most crucial part is that our son from the region will be doing that project and this is not the first time he has done such a heavy project in the region.”
The Minister further assured the people of the region that the government remains committed to the improvement of the road network in the region.
The Takoradi and Agona-Nkwanta road in the Ahanta West Municipality is a 28-kilometre road that distributes traffic from Nigeria, Benin, Togo, the ports of Tema and Takoradi towards Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia via Elubo and Tarkwa.
The road is now in a terrible condition, and several drivers have lamented the loss of time spent using the road after the massive traffic congestion they are forced to endure along the length because of the road’s numerous potholes.
