Mohammed Kudus needs time to settle – West Ham boss David Moyes

West Ham United manager David Moyes has explained his decision to start new signing Mohammed Kudus from the bench calling for patience among fans to allow him to settle in.

Mohammed Kudus has made two appearances coming off the bench since his big transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to the Premier League during the most recent transfer window. He made his debut during stoppage time in West Ham’s 2-1 victory over Luton Town prior to the break.

The 23-year-old was a standout performer for the Black Stars scoring in each of their two games against the Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as well as the international friendly match against Liberia.

With his fine form, Kudus was hoping to start against Manchester City on his return to his club but only got the nod after 67 minutes much to the dismay of some fans who felt the need to start him following his remarkable skill set.

However, Moyes has defended his decision by underscoring the need for adaptation for the former FC Nordsjaelland player as well as Konstantinos Mavropanos who also joined during the recent transfer window.

“Been brilliant; Edson and James have done a brilliant job and have started the season incredibly well. We might need to wait a little bit more time for Dinos (Konstantinos Mavropanos) and Mo (Mohammed Kudus) to get settled in, but overall I am really pleased with how they have started.”

Kudus would have to wait and hope he gets the nod in the team’s UEFA Europa League game on Thursday against FK TSC Ba?ka Topola.
