We’re disappointed in Alan – Coordinator of the Alan Kyerematen campaign

The withdrawal of Alan Kyerematen from the flagbearership race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has garnered mixed reactions from his campaign team with some expressing disappointment and others questioning the reason behind the withdrawal.

Sylvester Tetteh, the Coordinator of the Alan Kyerematen campaign in the Greater Accra Region, spoke out about their disappointment while also reaffirming their loyalty to the NPP.

Tetteh stated that although they believed Kyerematen was the best candidate to lead both the party and the country, they respected his decision to withdraw.

He assured the public that despite this setback, they would continue to support the NPP and he will soon be making announcement about who he will be supporting among the remaining four candidates in the NPP presidential race.

“It’s true that we are disappointed. All of us who have been part of the campaign, it’s a difficult moment for us. Our wish was that Alan Kyerematen would lead our party and subsequently become President of the Republic. But the most important thing is that we have life. The party is bigger than any individual,” Tetteh said during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen programme.

Kyerematen, who had emerged third in the super delegates conference that narrowed down the aspirants to five, cited the intimidation of his supporters and the absence of a level-playing field for all candidates as the reasons for his withdrawal.

These accusations have raised concerns among political observers, who argue that Kyerematen’s withdrawal could have negative implications for the NPP.

As of now, it remains to be seen what Kyerematen’s next move in Ghana’s politics will be. However, his withdrawal has undoubtedly created a significant impact on the NPP and its future direction.
