DISTURBING PHOTOS: School bus involved in accident in Takoradi

A school bus of St Paul’s Educational Centre in Takoradi carrying about 45 pupils crashed on the Apollo Road on Tuesday, February 27, at about 3:00 PM after school hours.

A few of the pupils sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the Kwesimintsim Hospital by the Ghana Ambulance Service who were called to the scene.

According to the driver of the bus with registration number WR 749 – 19, who spoke to Skyy News, as he was climbing the Apollo Hill just after the Apremdo traffic light, a student had to alight and just as he was stopping, the break of the bus failed and started to reverse which he veered off the lane into a drain to save the situation.

He said, “We service the bus every week but a vehicle is a machine and anything can happen. After starting the bus this morning, we realised the performance was not what we expected but we still moved it anyway and after getting to our first stop, it developed this fault.”
