The newly appointed Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has ended his 2-day tour in the Western Region.
On his tour, the minister inspected some ongoing projects by the ministry and some completed ones in deplorable conditions.
On his first day of visit on Thursday, March 21, the Minister paid a courtesy call to the Chief’s Palace in Aboadze and also visited the sea defence at Aboadze to see the state of it and strategically plan on expanding the project.
On the second day of Friday, March 22, the minister took his visit to the Nzema and Ahanta areas where he paid a courtesy call to Awulae Atibrukusu III, Paramount Chief of Lower Axim Traditional Are and also inspected the current state of the sea defence in the area.
After the inspection, he took his direction to Dixcove where he paid a courtesy call on both the Upper and Lower Dixcove Paramount Chiefs, Obrempon Hima Dekyi XIV and Nana Agyeman IX respectively where they both voiced out their concerns to the minister on the ongoing sea defence project.
The Chief of Upper Dixcove indicated that the contractor working on the sea defence project was adamant about listening to the people’s concerns and their desires.
He told the minister to advise the contractor on considering the opinions of the chiefs and the locals on the ongoing sea defence project.
The Minister in his final speech to the chiefs said he has noted all their concerns which he will duly work on to ensure a successful project and a progressive nation.
