Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly launches app for web-based services

As a significant step toward aligning with the government’s agenda to digitalize public services in Ghana, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has introduced the Twin City Connect app, a web-based app aimed at improving service delivery.

The object for developing this app is to reduce bureaucracy, broaden public participation, and provide unrestricted access to vital information.

A notable feature of the platform is its real-time complaint lodging system, which allows residents to report issues directly to the Assembly for prompt action.

Explaining the functions of the app to journalists, Abdul Aziz Mamud, Social Accountability Officer for the project pointed the significance of the app as it provides avenue for MCE and the Coordinating Officer to track progress of complaints lodged and actions taken in real time.

“Many at times the public feel reluctant in visiting our offices to seek our services. Upon numerous consultations, we have put to bed this app which provides our public to sit at the comfort of their homes and access our services without coming to our offices,” he said.

Mr Mamud called on the public to utilize the web-based app to report pressing issues affecting the metropolis. However, he cautioned against submitting false complaints, warning that individuals found guilty of providing inaccurate information could face legal consequences.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Abdul Mumin Issah, praised the initiative, as it dovetails into government of the days quest to digitalize services to the Ghanaian public.

He emphasized that the app not only facilitates efficient communication between the Assembly and residents but also enables citizens to monitor the utilization of the Assembly’s revenue.

This, he noted, enhances transparency and fosters greater trust between the public and the Assembly and urged the public to make use of it.
