New NPA CEO Edudzi Tameklo on how he will drive transformation and innovation

Godwin Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) started work on Monday with a pledge to introduce fresh strategies to enhance efficiency and foster innovation in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

Addressing the NPA’s management and staff in Accra on Monday (January 27, 2025), Mr. Tameklo affirmed his commitment to advancing the Authority’s objectives in alignment with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for industry transformation.

In his speech, Mr. Tameklo reflected on his appointment, noting that the President had emphasised the need for a dynamic and proactive leadership approach.

“The status quo is no longer sufficient,” he said, stressing his dedication to reforming the sector and aligning with national development goals.

He further highlighted his leadership principles, which was to prioritise teamwork, fairness, and inclusivity.

He reassured the staff that their well-being remains a key focus and urged collective efforts to propel the Authority forward.

On behalf of the staff, Mr. Ernest Ayeh-Datey, Chairman of the NPA Welfare Committee, extended his congratulations to Mr. Tameklo and pledged unwavering support for his leadership.

With an extensive background in legal practice and governance, Mr. Tameklo brings invaluable expertise to his new role. He holds an LLM in Natural Resources (Downstream Petroleum) from the University of Ghana and completed the Professional Law Course at the Ghana School of Law before being called to the Bar in 2013.

As a Partner at Ayine & Partners Law Firm, he has built a reputation in criminal, civil, and commercial litigation.

His legal career spans over a decade, during which he has provided strategic legal counsel to various entities and demonstrated a keen ability for analytical problem-solving.

Beyond legal practice, Mr. Tameklo served as the Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
