NIA boss gives account of Hardcastle-Annoh-Dompreh altercation

The acting Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Wisdom Kwaku Deku—known on social media as Yayra Koku—has waded into the ongoing saga between Emeafa Hardcastle and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

According to Deku, he was seated right next to Hardcastle, who currently serves as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission when tensions flared between her and Annoh-Dompreh.

What Happened?

The incident unfolded during a brief recess in the vetting process of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister-Designate for Defence. As Annoh-Dompreh was exiting the room, Hardcastle allegedly confronted him, saying:

You are threatening me that you are taking me on because who are you? What do you mean by taking me on? You are a micro-minority. Doesn’t Afenyo-Markin himself use that phrase? I don’t have time for that. You think you can bully me here?”

In response, Annoh-Dompreh reportedly pushed back, insisting that he would not let the matter slide and would “take her on.”

His reaction has since sparked debate, with some questioning the weight and implications of his remarks.

Deku’s account

Deku’s detailed account sheds light on the nature of the exchange and the underlying tensions between the parties involved.

The confrontation has since ignited discussions over parliamentary decorum, gender dynamics in politics, and the use of language in high-stakes political engagements.

Meanwhile, the Minority Chief Whip has prayed Parliament to haul Emeafa Hardcastle before the Privileges Committee for abusing his personality.
