Performing with Vybz Kartel is like winning a grammy – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, says performing with Jamaican dancehall legend Vybz Kartel is equivalent to winning a Grammy Award, arguably the most prestigious award in the music industry.
Speaking to JoyNews on his arrival from Jamaica, Shatta Wale said, “The experience has been beautiful; this is a dream come true for Shatta Movement fans. Everyone knows my journey as a dancehall musician, and performing with Vybz Kartel is a dream come true.”
Responding to how impactful his appearance at the Freedom Street concert is to his career, Shatta Wale added, “Vybz Kartel’s endorsement is equivalent to winning a Grammy for me. Because Vybz is a global icon, an artist everyone knows and loves, and to receive his endorsement and perform together is my greatest achievement.”
Shatta Wale was the sole Ghanaian performer at the highly publicized “Freedom Street” concert, headlined by Jamaican dancehall legend Vybz Kartel.
The event, held on December 31, 2024, at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, marked Vybz Kartel’s first live performance in over 14 years following his recent release from prison.
The concert, which has been described as a monumental event in dancehall history, also featured international stars like Skillibeng, Busta Rhymes, Popcaan, and Spice.
