I’ll tackle deplorable roads and youth unemployment – Western Regional Minister

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has assured the chiefs and people of the region of government’s commitment to remedy the situation.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday 11th February 2025, shortly after assuming office as Minister, Joseph Nelson mentioned few of the road networks in the region which he described as deplorable

He said his administration would make road infrastructure as one of its priorities

“I have a fair view of how the situation is” he acknowledged whilst taking responsibility to deal with the threats being posed on the roads.

“People travel, they see, they feel and know the state of the roads” the Minister lamented.

Despite the visible worrying development, the Minister said “This government is committed to resolving them.”

He cited the Cape Coast to Takoradi stretch as an important road infrastructure that must be tackled “It is so important to me that we should immediately bring some relief to road users, bring some important changes on that stretch. I don’t know when, but I am committed to it,” he assured.

Joseph Nelson also mentioned Nkroful junction as another aspect of road infrastructure in the region that requires attention.

He said aside road infrastructure challenges, growing unemployment is another disturbing challenge facing Western Region which must be tackled tactfully.
