Pope Francis has been diagnosed with double pneumonia, complicating his treatment for bronchitis. Despite the challenges, the Vatican says he remains in good spirits and asks for continued prayers.
The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Francis has developed double pneumonia, complicating his ongoing treatment for bronchitis.
However, the 86-year-old Pontiff remains in good spirits and continues to receive medical care at the A. Gemelli Polyclinic Foundation in Rome.
In a Tuesday evening press release, the Holy See Press Office provided an update on the Pope’s condition, describing it as “complex.”
“Laboratory tests, chest X-rays, and the clinical condition of the Holy Father continue to present a complex picture,” the statement read.
The Vatican revealed that Pope Francis’ polymicrobial infection—arising from bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis—has required corticosteroids and antibiotics, making treatment more challenging.
