Pope Francis diagnosed with Double Pneumonia, condition ‘complex’

The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Francis has developed double pneumonia, complicating his ongoing treatment for bronchitis.

However, the 86-year-old Pontiff remains in good spirits and continues to receive medical care at the A. Gemelli Polyclinic Foundation in Rome.

In a Tuesday evening press release, the Holy See Press Office provided an update on the Pope’s condition, describing it as “complex.”

Laboratory tests, chest X-rays, and the clinical condition of the Holy Father continue to present a complex picture,” the statement read.

The Vatican revealed that Pope Francis’ polymicrobial infection—arising from bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis—has required corticosteroids and antibiotics, making treatment more challenging.
