Western Regional Minister and Essikado Ketan MP team up to woo investors

Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson is urging investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities in the region, which he believes is the ideal investment destination in Ghana.

The region’s unique geographical disposition, abundant natural resources, and skilled human capital make it an attractive location for both domestic and foreign investors.

Minister Nelson emphasized that private investment would complement the government’s efforts to drive Ghana’s economy forward. He encouraged investors to explore the various opportunities available in the region, highlighting the potential for growth and development.

The Western Region’s rich natural resources and strategic location make it an ideal hub for various industries, including agriculture, mining, and manufacturing. With the right investment, the region can become a key driver of Ghana’s economic growth and development.

The Minister’s call to action is a clear indication of the region’s potential for investment and growth.

“We have to look out for others who are also concerned about investment and development, so we work together” the Minister said

He emphasized the importance of private sector investment in driving the region’s development agenda during a meeting with Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, Member of Parliament for Essikado Ketan Constituency, on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Mr Nelson stressed that private investment is crucial and significant for the region’s growth.

“You know that the state of the economy is such that, you cannot rely solely on central government for everything,” he stressed.

For him as the Regional Minister, he said, “The commitment of development of this region is top on the agenda, because, the challenges are not lost on me.”

“The truth of the matter is that, I have come into this office as a three-term Regional Secretary and so the challenges and development of this region are not lost on me,” he added.

Addressing the current state of the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) which has assumed cracks, dilapidated structures with dirt and messy posturing, the Regional Minister said his administration would see to its renovation.

“To think that this is the current state of the Regional administration, being put in this sorry state, is rather unfortunate and very sad,” he lamented.

Professor Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, the Member of Parliament for Essikado Ketan Constituency, reaffirmed her commitment to partnering with the Minister to drive Essikado Ketan’s development agenda forward.

As the host Constituency for the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC), she emphasized the need to attract investors and investment to the region, with a specific focus on addressing the underdevelopment and rising unemployment in her Constituency.

Professor Dr. Ayensu Danquah, a renowned humanitarian surgeon and advocate for gender equality, also pledged to work closely with the Minister to bridge the infrastructure gap in Essikado Ketan.

Her dedication to the Constituency’s growth and development is evident, particularly after her historic win in the 2024 elections.
