Rev. Kusi Boateng dismisses reports of his arrest; denies allegations of misusing Cathedral funds

A prominent member of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees and founder of Power Chapel in Kumasi has refuted claims that he has been arrested or embezzled project funds intended for the National Cathedral.

Rev. Boateng addressed his congregation in a video during a church service on Friday, denying rumors that he had been arrested or had absconded.

“They say I am running away, who am I running away from? I am a law-abiding citizen. I have not stolen anything from anyone,” he said.

“If you hear rumours of my arrest, just drink water and sleep. I am standing here before you, perhaps it’s my ghost that has been arrested,” he added.

Rev. Boateng criticized certain media outlets for disseminating what he claimed were inaccurate reports.

He named media houses like JoyNews, GhanaWeb, and Citi News of making false reports about his arrest.

“What is this world that we are living in, pastors are lying, church members are lying, social media is full of lies, JoyNews is lying, Ghana web is lying, Citi news is lying, what is this?” he said.

Responding to concerns about the National Cathedral project, he stated that he had just returned from a trip and had attended a meeting to discuss the project’s challenges and was shocked to learn that he had been arrested.

Rev. Boateng urged church members to remain calm, insisting that he had done nothing wrong and was not afraid of any accusations.

“I will not do anything to bring shame upon you. We are in a better year, Grace has been activated and no matter what the devil does I know that where God wants to take us, he will.

“I have not done anything to warrant an arrest, nobody can arrest me because I have not done anything for me to be arrested and I will say this on Sunday. It doesn’t matter who you are, I don’t care who you are,” he stated.

He concluded: “If you know where we are coming from and where God has brought us now, we are not afraid about what someone will say about us or arrest us, for the rest, no one can change our destiny.”
