Ahmed Suale’s murder: Suspect Daniel Koranteng charged with abetment and murder

State prosecutors have charged Daniel Owusu Koranteng, the prime suspect in the murder of Investigative Journalist Ahmed Suale with the offences of abetment to commit murder and murder.

This was after they informed the court of the decision to make changes to the initial charges.

Chief Inspector Nana Afua Bamfo told the court on Wednesday, April 2, that Daniel Koranteng led two other alleged culprits currently at large to the home of Ahmed Suale where he was eventually shot and killed by unknown assailants.

Daniel Koranteng is now facing a charge of aiding and abetting two others at large to commit murder and murder.

The prosecution noted that Daniel Koranteng led two other alleged culprits currently at large to the home of Ahmed Suale where he was eventually shot and killed by unknown assailants.

Per the brief facts of the case tensions escalated in June 2018 when former Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong broadcasted images of Ahmed Suale on Net2 TV, calling for retribution against the investigative journalists.

The prosecution narrated that after probing, Ahmed Suale later identified Daniel as the one who provided Ken Agyapong with his photographs and confronted him through a WhatsApp chat.

“On January 16, 2019, following the publication of the deceased’s images, he was shot and killed in Madina.

Investigation disclosed that, accused person having known the deceased’s place of abode and possible hideouts; led two other culprits currently at large to the house of the deceased where he was shot and killed.”

Counsel for Daniel Koranteng led by Kofi Essel Hackman prayed the court to grant his client bail since he’s been in custody since March 12.

“It’s only the court that can grant us bail. My lady you need to save us from the powers of the state, particularly the Police,” Essel pleaded with the court.

But Prosecution objected to the bail application, explaining that investigations were still underway and releasing him on bail would compromise it.
They added that efforts were underway to arrest the two other culprits at large.

Presiding judge Susan Nyarkotey then remanded Daniel Owusu Koranteng again to custody.

He is to reappear before the court on April 17.
