Since Donald Trump’s arrival at the White House, Washington has been attempting to mediate between the two belligerents to end the conflict, but according to American press, his patience has limits and he’s reportedly on the verge of abandoning negotiations.
According to Axios, the final offer from American President Donald Trump for peace in Ukraine includes the United States recognising Crimea as part of Russia and unofficially recognising Russian control over almost all areas occupied since the 2022 invasion. An offer that seems impossible for Kiev to accept.
On the other hand, according to the Financial Times, it’s also reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed to the United States to stop their invasion of Ukraine and freeze the current frontline.
According to the British newspaper, which cites “people close to the matter“, Vladimir Putin made this proposal during a meeting in early April in St. Petersburg with American envoy Steve Witkoff.
