Michelle Obama says she’d stay at Airbnb CEO’s home if she were single

Former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama has stirred some controversy with a lighthearted comment during a recent episode of her podcast, Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast, where she joked about staying at Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky’s home if she were single.

Michelle and her brother, Craig Robinson, were chatting with Chesky when the conversation turned to his unique Airbnb listing — a room in his own house that guests can book to stay with him. Chesky revealed that the listing has drawn keen interest, with one guest reportedly refreshing the booking page thousands of times just to secure a stay.

“I get it,” Michelle responded with a laugh. “If I were single, I’d be trying to get into a bed and breakfast situation at Brian’s too!”

The light exchange sparked more laughter when Chesky admitted that both Michelle and former U.S. President Barack Obama had attempted to set him up in the past. “They’ve been invested in my love life,” Chesky joked. Michelle confirmed it, saying she wants to see him happy.

Despite the humour, Michelle made it clear the remarks were all in jest, and there’s no truth to any speculation about her marriage. She remains very much committed to Barack Obama, even as social media occasionally fuels unfounded rumours about the couple’s relationship.

Interestingly, Chesky’s Airbnb home is filled with items tied to the company’s origins, including a box of “Obama O’s,” the novelty cereal he and his co-founders sold to raise funds in the startup’s early days.
