Ghana: The death of Squadron Leader Peter Anala, one of eight victims of the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash, has left his family and the nation deeply shaken.
The Z-9 aircraft went down on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the thick forest of Adansi Sikaman, Adansi Akrofuom District, Ashanti Region.
During the state funeral held at Black Star Square, a moving tribute revealed that Anala had confided in his family about a troubling dream just days before his untimely death.
His family recalled how they had prayed together for God’s protection, only for their fears to be realised on the morning of August 6 when he failed to respond to messages.
“He confided in his mother about a troubling dream, and together we sought God’s protection through prayers with priests and family. On August 6, an unexplained restlessness kept us awake in prayer for the family.
That morning, we sent Peter our usual devotion and a message: How are you, my love? Stay safe and blessed in the Lord Jesus Christ. When there was no reply, fear gripped us. Later, the devastating truth reached us. Our worst fears had come to pass,” the tribute read in part.
Anala, described as a dedicated officer and remarkable soul, had just welcomed his first child with his wife while on a recent trip to the United Kingdom.
“Though our hearts are broken beyond words, we surrender to God’s will, trusting that He knows best. We find solace in cherished memories, his dreams, and the love he poured into our lives,” the family said.
The relatives who described him as a man of excellence, simplicity, and obedience, who lived faithfully and died in the line of duty, prayed for God’s protection on all his beloved family, including his two-month-old daughter.
“We pray for God’s comfort upon his life, his newborn child, and all affected by this tragedy. Peter, our hero, our light, you kept the faith, you fought a good fight until we meet again,” the tribute concluded.
The tragedy compounds grief for his family, who revealed that Anala had lost two siblings in the past five months.
