
The Ghana Police Service has said that it has commenced investigation into a viral TikTok video in which an individual is heard threatening the lives of President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Lordina Mahama.
This is contained in a statement posted on Facebook on August 12.
“So far, two people, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are in Police custody assisting the ongoing investigation while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist the investigation,” the Police said.
In the video on TikTok, a female voice could be held saying in Twi, “Did you see how they put them in sacks? That’s how we will treat Mahama. We will kill him and cut off the head of his wife.”
The narration was in respect of how the 8 victims of the helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on August 6.
The deceased are; Hon. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment and Science, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the ruling NDC, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flight Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
