The Governing Council of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has appointed the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Denis Worlanyo Aheto, to act as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university in an interim capacity.
The decision was announced in a notice issued by the Council Secretariat on September 24, 2025, following an emergency meeting held on the same day. The Council stated that the appointment was made to abide by directives received from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
The official notice, signed by the Registrar/Secretary to Council, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, Esq., informs the University Community, its stakeholders, and the general public of the new interim leadership arrangement.
The statement also sought to assure all stakeholders that the University remains stable and that both academic and administrative activities will continue without disruption under the new interim leadership.
The appointment of an interim VC follows the end of the term or the removal of the substantive Vice-Chancellor, necessitating a temporary arrangement to ensure administrative continuity while the process for appointing a new VC is completed.
