The Food and Drugs Authourity (FDA) with the assistance of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service on 10th July, 2019 arrested Elizabeth Torgbor popularly known as Mama Gee, a product seller who is popular on social media for the sales of sexual enhancers and other products.
Mama Gee was arrested at her shop at Madina in Accra, Wednesday morning by the Police CID and FDA staff. She was selling her products when the Authorities entered the shop to effect her arrest.
Mama Gee gained prominence on social media when her unregistered ‘Oga lie low,’ ‘Cash out,’ ‘Favour cream,’ amongst other products circulated online.
FDA as an Authority mandated by the Public Health Act 2012 (Act 851) to test and approve drug, food, medical devices, household chemicals, tobacco and tobacco products, amongst others has to approve any product under its mandate before it is sold on the market.
Mama Gee who was arrested on the grounds of selling unregistered products and making unsubstantiated claims is currently with the CID of the Police in Accra.
In a press release by the FDA and signed by the CEO Mrs. Delese A.A. Darko, the Authority said;
