The maiden edition of the Western Tennis Championship came off at the Ghacem Club House in Takoradi from November 1 to 3 where new champions in Tennis emerged.
At the two day lawn tennis tournament which was organized by Westline Consult, the players from the length and breadth of Western Region gathered to compete each other in the racket sport.
At the men’s all play for all, three finalists namely Frank Amoako, John L. Coker and Brain Mensah competed where Frank Amoako took over the two (2) players and won over Coker 7-5 respectively. John L. Coker emerged the 1st runner up and Brain Mensah, the 2nd runner up in the tournament.
In the Children tournament, Norbert Asem emerged the champion whereas Samuel Yankson became the 1st runner up and Benjamin Amoah, the 2nd runner up.
Winners were awarded with trophies and cash prizes. The maiden edition of the Western Tennis Championship was sponsored by Kent Investment and Integrity Logistics and Consult Limited, all headquartered in Sekondi-Takoradi.
Chief Executive Officer of Westline Consult, Emmanuel Ampaabeng expressed profound gratitude to the sponsors for supporting the initiative to be fruitful. He added that “we want to groom the next generation of lawn tennis champions and we believe that this event which would be an annual one would help us to discover talents in lawn tennis.”
