Prez. Akufo-Addo leaves for UAE, Germany & UK

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left Accra on Sunday for a three-state visit to the United Arab Emirates, Germany and the United Kingdom.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the visit to the UAE is at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Ghana’s leader is expected to hold bilateral talks with the Crown Prince on Monday “with the aim of renewing and deepening the ties of co-operation and friendship between the two countries”.

President Akufo-Addo will later travel to Germany as he accepts an invitation from German Chancellor Angela Merkel to participate in the summit of the G20 Compact with African countries.

After that meeting on Tuesday, November 19, the president will travel to the UK for a private visit.

The president was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, and officials of the Presidency and Foreign Ministry.

He will return to Ghana on Tuesday, November 26 and, in his absence, Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.
