Strike Over at University of Ghana: Lectures begin

300..1.1514372Lecturers at the University of Ghana have resume teaching after their month-long strike.

In an interview with us, President of the University of Ghana branch of UTAG, Dr. Langbong Bimi said ‘’at an emergency meeting members were of the view that there was enough commitment per the letters from the VC [Vice Chancellor] to make payments [to settle their book and research allowance is inadequate]…’’

This contradicts the position of the National Executive body which is still unwilling to call off the strike.

According Dr. Bimi he has communicated the resolution by the Legon branch of UTAG and they are waiting for a response.

Meanwhile checks on the University of Ghana campus shows that lectures have indeed begun.

Student journalist Duke Opoku Mensah reported that “all the lecture rooms that he visited have serious lectures going on; all the lecture rooms have students and teachers and academic work has begun.’’
