Coronavirus: Ghana Police to keep distance in dealing with public

The Ghana Police Service is encouraging its officers to keep a distance of one meter in dealing with the public, unless the situation requires otherwise as part of contingency measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

The advice contained in a six-point news release issued by the Police on the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday encouraged the public to cooperate with the directive for medical safety.

“Police personnel have been encouraged to keep to a distance of one meter in dealing with others, unless the situation requires otherwise. The public is encouraged to cooperate in this regard, for medical safety,” the release said.

The release added that Police cells would be disinfected regularly and new suspects would be screened for COVID-19 before they are placed in custody.
