The Western Region Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has debunked reports of a viral spread in the some Senior High Schools in the area.
Earlier it was reported that the novel coronavirus has invaded the Archbishop Porter Girls Senior High School, Ghana National Technical School and seven others in the region, causing students to panic.
The Directorate clarifies that only four students have been confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus, and that they have been quarantined so they could be treated.
These four cases are from the following schools;
1. Archbishop Porter Girls – 4 suspected (1 confirmed)
2. Ahantaman Girls – 5 suspected (1 confirmed)
3. Adiembra SHS – 4 suspected (2 confirmed)
Three suspected cases have been reported in the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), and two in the St. John Senor High School. Samples of these students have been taken for testing.
