Wassa East District: Queen Mother blames irresponsible parenting and ‘Aboboyaa’ riders for alarming rate of teenage pregnancy

Nana Yaa Ago II, Queen Mother of Dwinase in the Wassa East District has blamed irresponsible parenting for the alarming rate of teenage pregnancy in the area.
According to the Queen Mother, it has become fashionable for ladies in her area to jump from new settlers to another and getting pregnant in the end. “When these new settlers leave the area, you’ll see the ladies pregnant without the father of the children present. This has left many children bastards in the area” Nana Yaa Ago II revealed.
“The ‘Aboboyaa’ (tricycle) riders are also one of the major causes of the teenage pregnancy in this area. They come for the ladies, spend the night with them and bring them in the morning. This is causing a lot of pregnancy in this area.”
“I made a decree that I would hang a lamb in the neck of any girl who gets pregnant before entering Senior High School (SHS). What the parents told me made me even stop following up on it without knowing. It appears the parents are unconcerned and support what the children are doing” the Queen Mother further revealed.
The Wassa East District has become one of the districts in Ghana with high rate of teenage pregnancy and as www.233times.net followed up to ascertain the cause, the Queen Mother blames irresponsible parenting and the ‘Aboboyaa’ riders as the main cause.
