Why electorates of Effia Constituency have been voting for NPP – NDC PC shares historical reason

The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Effia Constituency, Michael Otoo has shared historical reason why electorates have since 2000 general elections voted for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In an interview on Extensive Chat with NKC, Michael Otoo revealed that “during the early days of late Jerry John Rawlings as a military ruler, many people across Ghana undermined him. During one of his tours to the constituency, he was hooted by the people in the area.”

“Rawlings then brought the people of 2Bn (Second Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Armed Forces) to deal with the people and since then they have never liked Rawlings and NDC” Mr. Otoo said.

According to Mr. Otoo, that is the main reason why the people of Effia Constituency have developed love for the NPP and voted for them but there is a new generation in the constituency who now understand things better and the dynamics are changing. He added that “when I go round the constituency, they tell me that I’m the saviour of the constituency.”

Michael Otoo is challenging NPP’s Hon. Joseph Cudjoe who is the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency and also the Deputy Minister of Energy.
