Takoradi: 40ft Container falls off truck and kills 2 in Daewoo Matiz (DISTURBING PHOTOS)

Around 11:20 pm on Friday 27th November, 2020, two people were killed by a 40 footer container loaded with cocoa on the Vodafone stretch in Takoradi.

According to Police report available to www.233times.net, one Eric Pamford Peters aged 30 now deceased was driving Daewoo Matiz private car with registration number WR 1049 -19. Mr Peters was driving from Paa Grant round-about towards Kwame Nkrumah round-about and on board was one Ama Amponsah, aged 27 (also deceased).

Upon reaching the Vodafone intersection, a Daf articulated truck with registration number GT 5953 – 20 from the opposite direction driven by Adu Emmanuel Kwaku aged 32 with 40 footer container loaded with cocoa, veered of his lane and climbed the median to the lane of the Matiz.

The container detached from the truck and fell on the Matiz, crushing it. The deceased were trapped in the car but with the help of Fire Service and road safety recovery truck, they were removed and bodies deposited at Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital Morgue pending autopsy.

Accident vehicles have towed the vehicles to RMTTD yard in Sekondi pending testing. Suspect driver Emmanuel Kwaku has been arrested and in police custody.
