The Takoradi Market Circle will be permanently closed on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, to pave way for the contractors to start work on the market.
The major construction works will start next month and the city authorities have to meet the deadline given to them by the contractor on the relocation of the traders.
The City Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Abdul Mumin Issah disclosed at a meeting with the leadership of the Market women on work done so far at the new location.
He indicated the project is about 90 percent complete and pleaded with the women to bear with the Assembly.
He said the time given to the Contractor to move all the Women from the market is long over due and they have stick to the new date for the final relocation exercise on the 10th of next month.
Speaking at the meeting, the mayor addressed that there will be no trading activity in the market on Monday, May 3, so that the traders can remove their items from the market to the new site.
Also, extension won’t be granted to any of the traders and by Monday, all the traders will get a place at the temporary market to move their items. He made it known they have from the 3rd of May to the 10th of May to completely get all their belongings.
