Police arrest couple for burying son alive

A couple at Breman Brekwa in the central Region have been arrested for burying their 2-year-old son alive.

According to the suspects, a female pastor influenced them to bury the child alive. They claim the child is from the gods, reason he can’t walk or talk, so he has to be killed.

An eyewitness, Abubakar Muhammad explained that, at Midnight on Monday, the couple together with the pastor dug a pit to bury the 2-year-old child alive.

According to him, he noticed there was something unusual so he monitored the movement of the suspects, and to his surprise, a child was being buried.

He said “I saw them carrying the child to where the pit was being dug. It was around 12 midnight. It was so mysterious I had to lock my window”

However, he indicated that he saw two women and a man. The man was digging and one woman was carrying the child.
He said, “I was alone and scared so I could not stomp out. The man left the scene and entered our compound, it was during that time I noticed it was my landlord, I asked him what was he doing by this time behind the house.

Muhammad revealed that based on his inquires, the landlord explained that his child was ill and the pastor asked them to perform a rite for the child.

Nana Kofi Hammed, The Chief of Breman Brakwa has made it known the entire society are very astonished of this incident.

He added that even though the suspects are in the police custody, a rite needs to be performed to cleanse the community of any evil that will bestow it due to the incident.

He said, “the family of the suspects came to seek for forgiveness but it is a big crime they have committed.”

“Even when children die in this community, they are not buried in that manner, how much more a child who is alive and buried.” He added.
