STMA launches 30 days count down to Census night

Mr Abdul-Mumin Issah, the Mayor of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, says people do not need to travel to their towns and villages to be counted during the 2021 census.

He said census officials would count the people at wherever point they were during the reference night and urged the citizens to keep the date and be counted for development planning purposes.

The Mayor gave the information during the STMA’s launch of the 30 days countdown to the Population and Housing exercise.

The 2021 PHC Census seeks to get everyone counted and on June 13, the Ghana Statistical Service will begin the listing of structures.

The census night is on June 27, with actual enumeration beginning June 28 to 11 July 2021.

Mr Samuel Ackah Cudjoe, the District Census Officer, said the Statistical Service was prepared for the exercise through the established working partnerships, recruited District census officers, developed slogans and integrated external data Resources, among others.

He said the technological advances, process digitization and enhanced training were integrated to ensure the production of quality data.

The service had, therefore, completed training of 130 masters, 1,774 national and 8,775 Regional trainers, conducted three trial Census and two trial post enumeration surveys and the provision of 75,000 tablets for 75,000 enumerators.

Mr Cudjoe, therefore, urged the media to do a daily count on the exercise, avoid all forms of inflammatory remarks, and educate daily on activities leading to the PHC night.
