Takoradi: Whindo gods demand for red cow before traders can move into new market

The newly built market in Whindo, in the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality of the Western Region has been abandoned by traders who were supposedly to occupy the market.

However, speaking to the assemblyman in the area on Skyy Power 93.5FM on Thursday, July 8, Mr. Alex Acheampong made it known that, the location of the new market was a cemetery some thirty years back and it is believed some spirits still live and hover around that particular area.

According to tradition, the spirits needs to be pacified before the new traders can move into the market or else their business will not be fruitful when the needful is not done.

Mr. Acheampong disclosed that a traditional priestess called on the gods of the land to ask for it’s demands before the new market will be free of the spirits. He indicated that the gods demanded a cow before the traders can move into the new market.

Also, the gods were specific of the type of cow it needed which they have now selected about three of them awaiting to be confirmed by the traditional priestess before the sacrifice is done.

Speaking to some of the traders, a woman indicated that, even though most market women have been allocated with sheds, they are scared to move in because the necessary ritual has not been done to pacify the gods.

She indicated they are scared because the spirits might prevent customers from patronising their goods.

The Assemblyman assured the market women when he spoke on Skyy Power FM that, the sacrifice will be done very soon and they will have the freedom to trade.
