A top pharmacist, heading one of the leading pharmaceutical stores with about three branches in the Western Region has disclosed that, married men are high purchasers of condoms than single men in the Region.
This comes after it was reported that, purchase of condoms has increased by 8 million from 2019 to 2020, according to the Ghana Health Service. The staggering increase in the purchase of condoms has been pegged at 40,178,862 million for the year 2020 as from a previous 32 million purchases made in 2019.
Speaking to Nana Yaw Kumi of Skyy Power 93.5FM, the pharmacist, name withheld, and other pharmacist in the region explained that, married men in the ages of 40 years and above normally troop to their pharmacies to purchase more condoms than the single young men.
He also made it known that, men purchase more condoms than females and the male condoms is on a higher demand than that of the female condom.
Also, users are specific of the type of condoms they purchase as they explained that some brands are their favorites because it adds flavour and much excitement during sexual intercourse according to the pharmacist.
However, it was also explained that, people who purchase condoms already have some knowledge on how to maneuver the contraceptive as they do not ask for any guidelines in the process.
