RnB Singer Chris Brown and hip-hop Artiste Drake have been sued by singer and producer Brandon Cooper and Timothy Valentine who claim No Guidance,’ a hit song by the two were ripped off their ‘I Love Your Dress’ song.
Known by the stage name Mr. Cooper and Timothy Valentine also known on stage as Drum’n Skillz, the twofurther claim their song was released 3 years before Drake and Chris Brown’s ‘No Guidance’ dropped in June 2019.
Cooper and Valentine in the suit made mention of an analysis of the beat, lyrics, hook and rhythmic structure which demonstrate that ‘No Guidance’ was copied from ‘I Love Your Dress.’
They also added that their track has the lyrics “She got it; she got it” repeated 16 times whilst Chris Brown and Drake’s has “You got it, girl; you got it” 11 times.
Cooper and Valentine say even non-expert listeners can hear the similarities, alleging that Chris and Drake deliberately exploited ‘I Love Your Dress’ and even taunted them with a lyric about “flew the coop,” which Cooper claims is a play on his nickname, Coop.
The singer and producer are suing for copyright infringement.
