Special Prosecutor begins probe into Juaben MCE polls bribery saga

The Special Prosecutor says he has begun investigations into the alleged bribery incident involving the failed Juaben MCE-nominee and some assembly members in the municipality.

This comes after a video went viral of the nominee Alex Safo Kantanka, who has been rejected twice, angrily demanding a refund of alleged bribes he paid some assembly members to vote for him.

A statement from the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated “the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has commenced investigations into allegations of corruption and corruption-related offenses (especially corruption and intimidation in respect of a public election) in relation to your nomination and confirmation or otherwise as the Municipal Chief Executive of Juaben Municipality, in the Ashanti Region.”

The statement further stated that “the OSP considers you a person necessary for the investigations. You are directed to attend, in person, the office of the OSP at 6 Haile Selassie Avenue, South Ridge Accra GA-079-0906 on Tumday 9 November 2.1 at 2:30 in the afternoon for interviewing.”

“You may be accompanied by counsel of your choice.”
