KiDi opens up on how he wins awards

Dennis Nana Dwamena, professionally known as KiDi has stated that he is not surprised his songs have been winning awards because of the efforts he put into it.

Speaking on TV3 NewDay which was monitored by The Chronicle, KiDi said he is not surprised he won the Artiste of the year at the just ended 3Music Awards which came off on Saturday 26th March at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.

“I am not surprised my projects win awards because I put a lot of work into my projects. My ‘Sugar EP’ for instance I put in a lot of work. So it doesn’t surprise me that my projects win awards” KiDi intimated.

KiDi also expressed disappointment in the low patronage of the awards on the event day by his fellow Artistes, wondering what at all could be the reason why they did not show up at an event organised to celebrate them. “I am aware some of them are out of the country but I don’t know why they would not show up if they were around and available. I am a showup boy, I am there for my friends and others when they need me, that is if only I’m available, I will show up” KiDi mentioned.

Beating fierce competition from Black Sherif, Celestine Donkor, D Black, Kuami Eugene, Mr. Drew, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and Gyakie, KiDi won the flagship Artiste of the year.

In addition to the Artiste of the year award, KiDi also ‘Reggae/Dancehall Song of the year’ with ‘Touch it,’ ‘Digital Act of The Year,’ ‘Album of the Year’ with ‘Golden Boy’ album, ‘Best and Male Vocal Performance’ with ‘Mon bebe.’

Also, Black Sherif won the ‘Breakthrough Act of the Year’ and ‘Song of the year’ with ‘Second Sermon’ whilst ‘Group of the Year’ went to R2Bees.
