Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has hinted that they will beef up security in the metropolis in the coming days ahead for the Christmas festivities by installing streetlights in the twin city.
Addressing Assembly members this morning at the 3rd Ordinary meeting of the 3rd session of the eighth assembly of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of STMA, Abdul Mumin Issah indicated that 10 streetlights would be presented to each elected Assembly Member to illuminate the 36 electoral areas within our Metropolis.
He said for Takoradi Sub-metro alone, a total of 136 streetlights will be provided to illuminate major streets aside from the 10 streetlights which will be given to each assembly member. He added that the assembly will ensure its maintenance.
The mayor however indicated that the security situation has been generally calm in the Metropolis but was quick to add that METSEC would not compromise on security.
That said, “I should remind all that as we enter the Yuletide, each one of us has a duty to act in ways that would inure to the preservation of our individual as well as collective security before, during and after the festivities,” he stressed.
