“I hope next Energy, Roads and Lands Ministers will be appointed from Western Region” – Awulae Agyefi Kwame

The Omanhene of Nsein Traditional Area says he wishes the next Ministerial reshuffle will make some Members of Parliament from the Western Region cabinet ministers.

Speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show (JBS) on Wednesday, February 1, Awulae Agyefi Kwame II, said he would prefer the next Energy Minister, Roads Minister and Lands and Natural Resource Minister to be appointed from the Western Region.

This comes after the Paramount Chiefs of the Western Region, The Western Regional Minister – Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, The Western Regional NPP Chairman – Hon. Francis Ndede Siah and the Western Regional Members of Parliament had a meeting with the President at the Jubilee House.

Discussions centred mainly on key developmental concerns within the Western Region including stalled road and other infrastructure projects, and the need for a Western Regional nomination/representation on the Supreme Court bench, among other key issues.

Awulae Agyefi Kwame II said, “In my opinion, I would want the Minister of Energy, Roads Minister and Lands and Natural Resources Minister to come from the Western Region.”

“One of the reasons I would want the Roads Minister from our region is because of the deplorable state of roads in the region and Natural Resources Minister due to the region being the hub of natural resources in the country.”

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo during the meeting said as part of the conditionality with IMF it may require a disruption of some of the government’s infrastructure programmes but assured that they will be tackled and completed by the end of 2024.

Some of these projects include the PTC Interchange and the redevelopment of Market Circle.
