Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has expressed his admiration for the impressive performance of Ernest Numah during the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria.
Gyan, who watched the game, was particularly impressed with Numah’s display on the flanks, and has tipped the youngster for big things in the future.
Numah, who wore Gyan’s favourite jersey number 3, was the star of the match, thrilling the fans at the Baba Yara Stadium with his skills and dribbles.
He provided the assist for the only goal of the game, which was scored by Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, helping Ghana to secure qualification for the tournament scheduled to take place in June in Morocco.
Gyan via his Twitter handle heaped praise on the new sensation and labelled him as “Another next big thing…” while acknowledging his shirt number.
Ernest Nuamah was part of the initial 55-man squad announced by former coach Otto Addo ahead of the World Cup but failed to make the final 26.
His outstanding performance which was witnessed by new Black Stars coach Chris Hughton who was in attendance on Tuesday could most likely be his breakthrough to the senior team.
Black Meteors will begin with preparations ahead of the AFCON tournament while keeping an eye on a place in the Olympic Games to be staged in Paris next year.
