Fire razes down shops at Ritz Junction

Dozens of shops at Ritz Junction in the Adentan municipality were razed down Tuesday night.

The cause of the inferno was not immediately known but a shop owner by name Solomon told Media General‘s Richard Bright Addo that it was sparked by a fight between two of the occupants.

It started around 10:30pm, eye witnesses said.

As of 1:00am Wednesday, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was at the scene fighting the fire.

It has since been brought under control as five tenders were deployed in the fight.

There was a heavy police presence to protect lives and property.

No casualties, according to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Service, were recorded.

Alex Nartey told our reporter that though the cause of the fire cannot be immediately known, he will not rule out arson.
