Kwesimintsim MP distributes Smart Classroom equipment to 2 Basic Schools in EKMA

The Kwesimintsim Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Prince Hamid Armah has distributed Smart Classroom equipment to two Basic Schools in the Effia-Kwesiminstim Municipality of the Western Region.

The two schools that were privileged to receive this modern equipment were the Myohaung Barracks Basic and the St Anthony of Padua.

The smart classroom equipment which is to equip students to be technologically inclined and be prepared for the global job market were teacher laptops, Learning Management Systems, 50 tablets for each school, projectors, Content Acess Point Storage Units, Virtual Library, Coding Robotic Kits and Ai Kits including Teacher 4.0 Curriculum and training.

Speaking to Skyy News on the sidelines of the event, Dr Hamid Armah said he led the curriculum reformation for basic schools and the motive behind this was to ensure that they develop a new kind of Ghanaian who is not only a team player but a problem solver, a critical thinker and has an investigative and enquiry mind.

He said, “I was the Director General for the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment leading the curriculum reform of basic schools for the government.”

“In order to achieve this, the kind of teaching and learning that takes place will facilitate that, and the kind of teaching that takes place is a function of the instructional resources that are made available so the government decided to introduce blended learning, merging the traditional teaching approach and technology.”

“As a pilot, few schools have been selected to do that, so I managed to include two schools in my constituency which are St Anthony of Padua and Myohaung Barracks Basic School.”

Dr Prince said the Headmistress and two staff will be trained on how to use the equipment for the project to succeed.

The Head of Education for Effia-Kwesiminstsim Municipal Assembly, Madam Kate Biney applauded the MP for his lobbying skills and for bringing such revolutionary education materials to the municipality.
