Unauthorised structures in New Takoradi demolished (PHOTOS)

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has demolished unauthorized structures at Lower New Takoradi. This demolition exercise was organized by the Takoradi Sub-metro to avoid any future misfortune.

Speaking about the issue on SKYY Power FM’s headline news, the Takoradi Sub-Metro director made it known that, the purpose of the demolition is to get rid of the wooden structures in the areas because most of them are unauthorized.

He said that “Typically these are unauthorized structures and in compliance with the local governance act 91 which says that it is only the city planning authority that has the mandate to authorize the construction of physical structures in the district anywhere in Ghana and the STMA has not sanctioned these structures.

He further noted that the people who operate are predominantly people who engage in the peddling of unauthorized substances with some using fire.

According to Nana Asempa Yeboah, if this action is not taken there could be a potential fire outbreak.
