Class 6 pupil drowns while swimming with friends

A 14-year-old class six pupil tragically drowned in River Numia at Ataase Nkwanta in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region.

According to reports, the young boy, named Akwasi Opoku, went to the riverside with some friends and decided to swim but drowned in the process.

A spokesperson for the deceased’s family, who confirmed the news, said they are devastated.

Asante Boateng Abusuapanin revealed that Akwasi Opoku had recently lost his grandparents who raised him.

The Abusuapanin hoped the body would be recovered for a befitting burial.
