Former NPP flagbearer aspirant Owusu-Adjapong passes on

The death has been reported of former Majority Leader and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Felix Owusu-Adjapong.

Mr Owusu-Adjapong is said to have died on Wednesday, October 4 after a short illness.

A member of the Second, Third and Fourth Parliaments as the representative of Akyem Swedru Constituency, he served as Majority Leader between 2005 and 2008.

He announced his resignation from seeking re-election in order to contest the party’s presidential primaries in 2007.

He was one of the infamous 17 to contest the flagbearer elections ahead of the 2008 presidential elections.

He served in the John Kufuor administration as Minister of Transport and Communications, Minister of Energy as well as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.

He was 79.
