Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has expressed his admiration for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen but has raised concerns about the player’s tendency to go down easily during matches.
Osimhen, who recently completed a move to Galatasaray, was previously a target for Mourinho’s former club Chelsea.
The Portuguese manager, known for his appreciation of African talent, acknowledged Osimhen’s exceptional skills but emphasised the need for him to avoid diving.
“Osimhen is a fantastic player. If I were at a club that can spend 70-75 million euros, I would buy him,” Mourinho stated.
However, he added, “I have no problem with Victor; I have a good relationship with him, even if he goes down a lot. I told Osimhen: ‘Look, you are one of the best players in Africa together with Salah. Before there were Drogba, Eto’o, Weah. You can’t fall down that much!’”
Osimhen, who has been a standout performer in Serie A, was welcomed in Turkey with great fanfare following his loan move from Napoli.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce have started the season strongly, currently leading the league table with 10 points after four matches.
