‘I’m left with only 3 toes on my right foot’ – Sonnie Badu

Gospel musician and preacher, Sonnie Badu has opened up on the injuries he sustained after a domestic accident in December 2023.

Speaking on the Onua Showtime over the weekend, Sonnie Badu disclosed that he has currently lost two of his toes on the right foot as a result of the accident last year.

“I went through depression for six months, I’m left with only three toes,” he said.

“On that day I was cleaning up and I slipped on the staircase, my rail is a metal. I was supposed to hit my head on the ground but I went on the floor with my shoulder to protect myself. So, I landed on my shoulder and my leg went through the metal sharp rail and my toes were slitted.

“I was bleeding everywhere. We drove to the hospital and I walked to the emergency. When the doctors checked, they asked where are my toes and I asked which toes before I realise my toes had been slitted. So, I asked my team members to go check with a torchlight and they saw the toes on the floor, picked it up and placed in an iced box and brought it to the hospital. The doctors checked and refused it,” he narrated.

Host of Onua Showtime, Nana Ama affirmed the incident after the musician showed images to her on the show.

The singer underwent a surgery after he stumbled on the steps between the garden and the metal railings in his home while cleaning and watering in December last year.

Despite his condition, Sonnie Badu, who hadn’t fully recovered, was later seen performing at his Rhythms of Africa concert in Accra on December 9, 2023.

This caused people to claim on social media that his injury was not severe and only staged to gain attention for his Rhythms of Africa concert.

However, Sonnie Badu dismissed such claims on Onua Showtime with Nana Ama McBrown over the weekend.
