The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Patience Adams, has announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is ready to host football matches following the completion of renovations.
In an interview with Akoma FM, Adams confirmed that the venue is now operational, but formal approval from their superiors in Accra is still needed before it can officially reopen.
“All work at the Baba Yara Stadium is completed and ready to host any football events, but we are awaiting clearance from our masters in Accra before the facility can be opened,” she stated.
The stadium was closed for renovations after CAF deemed it unfit for international matches, primarily due to the poor condition of the pitch.
This closure forced Ghana to relocate its 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan to Accra, and Asante Kotoko SC had to move their home games to Obuasi.
Kotoko will return to their home ground at Baba Yara Stadium once the necessary clearance is granted.
