Mahama urges clergy to sustain peace message as Dec 7 approaches

Former President John Mahama has reminded the clergy about the need  to continue preaching peace before, during and after the December 7 elections.

According to him, it is only peaceful elections that can afford the country an opportunity to “reset, restart or renew.”

Mr Mahama said “I wish to call on the clergy not to relent in the quest to ensure peaceful elections on December 7 by preaching peace.”

Mr Mahama made the call at the 80th anniversary thanksgiving service of the St Joseph the Worker Anglican Church, Kaneshie-Accra on October 27.

The theme for the anniversary is “Renew, Rejoice and Reconnect.”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer urged the youth not to give up on the country.

“Many of our youth today have lost hope in the country. That is because of the current state of the economy which we all know about. That is the more reason why we need to reset. When your phone freezes, what do you do? You restart,” he noted.

The 80th anniversary was used to honour individuals who have contributed in diverse ways to the growth of the church. The main celebrant was Bishop Sylvanus Mensah Torto.
